Children’s Advocacy Center Hosts Third Annual Block Party Sept. 8

The Children’s Advocacy Center of North & Northwest Cook County will host its Third Annual Block Party: Family Picnic and Rib and Chili Cook-Off  from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 on Station Street in Palatine near the Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille. Admission is free. Food tickets are $1.

Block Party CAC pixThere will be entertainment by music bands Function Undefined and Selective Amnesia. Other attractions will include face painting and temporary tattoos, games and a bouncy house for children. CAC, which is based in Hoffman Estates, also thanks Celebrating All That Is Feminine (C.A.T.I.F.) for helping to organize and sponsor this event. This Elgin-based nonprofit organization consists of  professional women who are dedicated to fundraising and assistance to women in need. For more information, visit

The event’s proceeds will benefit CAC which strives to reduce trauma and provide support to child victims of violence and their families. The center serves as a community resource to facilitate the identification, intervention and prevention of child abuse. For information about CAC, visit
