Tickets for the Schaumburg Park Foundation’s popular Solstice Hop & Vine Fest ushering in summer go on sale Feb. 1. The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. June 23, at Meineke Park, 220 E. Weathersfield Way. Proceeds benefit recreation scholarships and other projects of the Schaumburg Park Foundation.

A 4-year-old girl was bit petting a 17-foot-long python Thursday at the Chicagoland Fishing, Travel and Outdoor Expo in Schaumburg. The snake was displayed by the Chicago Herpetological Society as part of an exhibit for the Chauncey’s Great Outdoors radio program, said Ellen Hopkins, spokeswoman for the show.
Various programs honoring Black History Month will take place in February at the Schaumburg Township District Library’s locations in Schaumburg and Hanover Park. Programs for children begin with “Art Studio” from 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the Craft Room of the Schaumburg Library, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
